    2015 NAPABA Central Regional Conference




    The Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association (MNAPABA) is hosting the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (NAPABA) Central Regional Conference from September 18-20, 2015 in Minneapolis, MN. NAPABA is the national association for Asian Pacific American legal professionals, representing the interests of over 40,000 attorneys and 68 state and local Asian Pacific American bar associations.

    The Central Regional Conference (CRC) is a unique opportunity for Midwest legal professionals to obtain CLE credit while building regional connections through networking. The Central Regional is comprised of eight states, including Minnesota. In 2008, MNAPABA hosted the first CRC and is excited to host again in 2015. This year they anticipate having over 300 attendees from the Midwest region.

    The American Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the National Bar Association, and the National Native American Bar Association announce the second year of the joint initiative, the Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy (CBLA).


    The CBLA is a coordinated effort to strengthen the pipeline of diverse bar association leaders by providing leadership training and professional development programs which will benefit current and future leaders, the bar association community, and the legal profession overall. The CBLA marks the first substantive program resulting from a collaboration of the five sponsoring bar associations and lays the foundation for further collaborative efforts to foster diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

    Judge Reyes' Public Investiture as Judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals

    Please join newly appointed Judge Peter Reyes for his Public Investiture as Judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals. The Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals will speak on Judge Reyes' behalf. The Honorable Mimi Wright, Minnesota Supreme Court Justice, will administer the Judge Reyes' oath. The formal program will last about an hour and a half, followed by a Reception. This event is open to the public.

    An Immigration Policy Discussion: The Intersection Between Reform and Immigrant Integration

    Whether immigration reform occurs or not, integration of immigrants in new communities is an essential component to building a successful immigration system. The panel will provide insight on how we can move from immigration reform delays to immigration integration by examining how immigration creates economic mobility, the social and legal barriers and challenges facing immigrants; the need for outreach, elimination of bias or prejudice in the administration of the law and legal services, advocacy work in our communities to ensure equal justice and access; and how community initiatives promote integration.

    Join us for our longstanding tradition in honoring the works and memory of the great Civil Rights activist Cesar Chavez. 

     

    The William Mitchell Latino Law Student Association is honored to present recently appointed Judge Jeffrey M. Bryan as the keynote speaker.  Judge M. Bryan, a former Assistant United States Attorney and Associate Attorney at Robins, Kaplan, Miller and Cirisi, was appointed to the Ramsey bench on July 11, 2013. 

     

    Free dinner and entertainment will be provided.
