Saint Paul Public Schools will have an opening for a new General Counsel beginning July 2018. Position oversees delivery of comprehensive, client-focused, and cost-effective legal services to school district and reports to Board of Education and Superintendent. General Counsel provides legal advice to district leaders and departments (e.g., human resources and labor relations) to accomplish district purposes with a minimum of legal risk. General Counsel represents district in administrative and court proceedings, manages litigation and negotiates agreements, and supervises other attorneys and legal assistant.
Requirements: Candidates must have at least ten years of legal practice experience and be authorized to practice in Minnesota. Legal practice experience must include the following legal areas: education, public sector, employment and labor, special education, human rights, contracts, public-sector data practices and data privacy, constitutional, and courtroom experience.
