The mission of the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA) provides leadership and resources for sexual assault programs and allies to prevent sexual violence while promoting a comprehensive, socially just response for all victims/survivors. MNCASA is a voice for 70 sexual assault victim advocacy programs statewide and also engages in policy change that promotes prevention, public safety and public health. The Sexual Violence Justice Institute at MNCASA promotes a multidisciplinary, victim-centered and trauma-informed approach to improving the system response.
MNCASA seeks to sponsor a candidate for an Equal Justice Works Fellowship to begin in Fall 2018. MNCASA is looking for applicants with an interest in legal issues affecting victim/survivors of sexual assault, including campus sexual assault.
The fellow will have the opportunity to develop a technical assistance program on campus sexual assault legal issues at MNCASA and explore opportunities for expanding legal resources to victim/survivors of sexual assault. Once selected, the fellow will work closely with MNCASA staff to fully develop the project proposal to Equal Justice Works, which is due September 27, 2017.
Required: JD anticipated by May 2018, recent law graduate, and/or experienced attorney looking to make a career change to public interest work.
Preferred: Experience working with victims of violence, specifically (but not limited to) sexual assault. Former employment or internships in this area is a plus.
Interested applicants should send a cover letter, resume, writing sample, a list of three references, and a 1-2 page preliminary project proposal related to MNCASA’s interest areas described above. No telephone calls please.
The deadline for submitting the above information is September 15, 2017. Because of the tight turnaround before the Equal Justice Works application deadline, applicants will be contacted quickly for an interview and will be expected to draft their application for timely submission on September 27, 2017. MNCASA will assist with the application process.
