Description: This CLE trains lawyers who will help VLN clients achieve their dream of becoming a U.S. citizen by representing them in the naturalization process. No prior immigration experience is required. Participants may attend one or both sessions, but participants will be asked to represent a VLN client and both sessions are required to represent VLN clients. Each session will include a review of local and national resources and offer opportunities to represent clients ready to apply for naturalization. Additionally, sessions will cover:
- Part 1: U.S. citizenship and who is a citizen, the benefits to becoming a U.S. citizen, the requirements to naturalize in the U.S.A. and the application process.
- Part 2: what to expect between filing the N-400 and taking the Oath of Allegiance and how to prepare, biometrics, RFEs, the Medical Waiver.
