Associate – Energy regulatory experience – Dorsey & Whitney LLP
Dorsey & Whitney LLP is seeking an associate with three to five years of energy regulatory experience to join the Regulatory Affairs Practice Group in our Minneapolis, Washington DC, Salt Lake City, Denver or Missoula office. This attorney will have the opportunity to represent and advise clients on a wide variety of energy issues and regulatory matters. This associate will have client facing opportunities. Dorsey represents utilities, independent power producers, generation and transmission cooperatives, natural gas producers, and financial institutions in transactions, litigation, federal and state regulatory proceedings, and enforcement matters.
The following qualifications are required:
– A JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school
– Three to five years of experience with energy regulatory issues and administrative proceedings, preferably state regulatory experience with rates and regulation (administrative litigation and policy issues) and/or FERC experience (electric transmission focused). Knowledge of relevant state regulatory structures and/or the Federal Power Act required.
– Minnesota, Washington DC, Utah, Colorado or Montana bar admission
– Excellent communication and writing skills
– Strong academic performance
Applicants with FERC experience and/or rate case experience are preferred.
For Denver applicants only (as required by the Colorado Equal Pay Act): The starting salary for associate positions in our Denver office is $180,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Associates are eligible to participate in Dorsey’s associate bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
