July 5, 2024
The Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association is proud to congratulate Minnesota Court of Appeals Judge Peter M. Reyes Jr. on receiving the Honorable William D. Missouri Civility Award of 2024!
The Honorable William D. Missouri Civility Award is presented annually to a lawyer or judge who exhibits exceptional qualities of civility, courtesy and professionalism toward colleagues, litigants and the public. The award may also be presented to a person or organization that promotes civility and professionalism in the legal profession. Judge Reyes has been an exemplar of these qualities for ages and we congratulate him on this well deserved recognition.
Judge Reyes has honorably served the Hispanic legal community through his service as both the past president of the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association and of the Hispanic National Bar Association. A constant force for justice in this community, Judge Reyes continues to inspire young law students and veteran attorneys alike through his calm, inviting demeanor. He has served honorably on the Minnesota Court of Appeals for over ten years, where he has handled a wide range of cases, including the appeal of Derek Chauvin. Outside of his chambers, Judge Reyes often makes appearances at MHBA events, where he engages with law students, attorneys, and fellow judges with a gentle smile and a warm conversation.
Judge Reyes will be presented with the award on Wednesday, July 31 during the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago at the Judicial Reception from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. by the ABA President Mary Smith. Attendees of the ABA Annual Meeting can register to the Judicial Reception here.
